Weekly Mixtape 2/21/17

Listen Here

1. Show You The Way, Thundercat, hehe the first single from thundercat is funky, funny, and features kenny loggins bruh
2. Alaska, Maggie Rogers, she made Pharrel Williams cry
3. Fireproof, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, indie acoustic folk pop rock, just lots of adjectives, a slow bop
4. Real Peach, Henry Jamison, v happy sad instrumentally full folk track
5. What’s That Perfume You Wear?, Jens Lekman, It has a very new wave 80s feel like Dead or Alive or Culture Club. I personally love the carribean-tinged steel drum lines that are peppered in the background. (tommy sure does write a lot, huh?)
6. Up In Hudson, Dirty Projectors, lots of fun horns, clanging discord, and honest lyrics make this weird lil track shine through on their new album
7. Heavy Head, The Orwells, if you like ty segall or wavves this is right up your alley because it fukin rocks
8. Blood Red Shoes, Son of the Velvet Rat – somehow this depressed vaquero still manages to get something of a groove going on this track. There’s also a weird female vocalist that sings in the background. Definitely not for everyone but worth checking out.
9. Sleep Drifter, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, these pysch rockers are playing with more obscure music theory and it’s great if you like magical mystery era Beatles
10. On + Off, Maggie Rogers, just had to throw another one in. I love this EP cause it’s so fun
11. Friendzone, Thundercat, Thundercat yay !!! The funkiest anti-valentine’s track you’ve ever heard
12. Bette Davis Eyes, Rogue Wave, ya’ll it’s an 80s cover album and I love it
